Monthly Archives: November 2021

It’s been a different strange sort of three weeks since I started this series. Nothing like I expected for sure but good non-the-less. Having my sister come was certainly a good change of pace. Now life feels slow and dull without her bubbly energy. 🤪 Trying to “go back to normal” is hard. Lol

Coming off the high of her visit to the low of Bergie getting sick has been extra hard. But we’re persevering. One day at a time.

Thing 1 has been helping with Bergie. She’s been assisting with his medication, which of course he hates. She’s also been his preferred company, laying down and cuddling with him. I’m thankful for the help.

Tonight is the blood moon eclipse. We are excited to see and experience this once in a lifetime version. Watching the celestial bodies dance is always awe inspiring. We should be able to see sometime around 9 pm our time.

Many things to be thankful for. The every day things, they’re the most important.

We’ve been medicating the Old Man cat for three days now and he has perked up quite a bit. We added some pet CBD oil to the mix as well. He’s been up and down the stairs multiple times today. I take it as a good sign that he’s not in as much pain.

Hanging out with his hoomans on the couch.

His presence is reassuring to us but distressing to the silly dog! Lol

One day at a time.

This past week marks my first decade being a dreadhead. 10 years. Wow.

A few years back, just got maintenance!

I love my locs. They are an integral part of me. I can’t imagine me without them anymore.

Salmonfest locs!

While Cletus was here she colored two of my locs with henna. They’ve turned a lovely shade of fiery red. I wouldn’t mind a whole head of them this color!!

Red dread.

They are in need of maintenance again but that will have to wait for spring.

Happy Dreadeversary to me!

Being able to stay home today and keep a watchful eye on Bergie has been a real blessing. It’s hard to focus on much else.

My Seester made it safely back to Dorothy Land. Very thankful.

Thankful I don’t live near Broad Pass which has a forecasted low of -50° F tonight.

Looking forward to the upcoming holiday meal and other celebrations!

If I had to pick just one word to describe what Bergie has done for our family it is enriched. He has brought a level of joy and love to us that only a pet can.

Cuddles with Thing 1.

In the beginning days Lil’ Mister was just a rambunctious toddler and pulled, poked and prodded him unmercifully. But Bergie was patient with him and never bit him or scratched him.

Loves from Thing 2

One day Bergie had decided that Lil Mister was old enough to know better and he started to gently protest the pokes and pulls with smacks without claws. These progressed as Lil Mister grew until the claws came out. The rough toddler treatment was curtailed!

Such a pretty boy.

He likes to cuddle at night. He used to sleep with me but when I moved upstairs he started sleeping in the girls’ room, mostly with Thing 1.

He loves those tummy rubs.

He’s not fond of the dog. Not one bit. He’s been tolerant of her but an occasional smack to the nose sends her packing.

Beautiful baby.

He has become such a mainstay in our house, it’s hard to imagine life without him.

But that is what we must do. We got some bad news at the vet’s today and our sweet old boy won’t be here much longer. Leukemia. He’s on respite care essentially. We’re taking it one day at a time and giving him extra special loves and care.

My favorite pic, such a regal boy!

I’m ever so thankful to have the chance to love this cat. To have my kids grow up with him, learn to care for and love him. To be good stewards of one of G-d’s creatures.

It’s never easy to say goodbye. But we’re thankful for whatever time we have left. B’H.

That's more like it!!

Cletus flies home tomorrow. We watched football today up at Jakes. Then we went to Jane & Marion’s for a cooler and had a nice visit. Now we’re home watching funny pet videos and laughing so much. We’ve had a good time.

Moon rise over the Kenai Mountains.

I’m thankful to have had this visit. But dang I’m tired. Gonna have to go back to work to rest up. Lol

Cletus gave me a
new craft idea.
Brrrr!!!

Cletus decided we needed to make these adorable little gnome garland strands. We ended up with 10 of the turquoise and 11 of the pink/black ones. Two kids made themselves a gnome. And we made three oddball gnomes for variety.

Getting started.
Making my first little gnome hat.

The hats are made by looping yarn around a paper towel tube that’s been cut down into 3/4″ rings, give or take.

The first finished gnome.

The beards are pom-poms glued into the hats. And a wooden bead for a nose.

I’ve never seen so many gnomes.

Cletus’ gnomes
My gnomes.
Cletus’ snow gnome, or just “S’nome”
My high hat gnomes.

They were a fun craft, lots of yarn cutting and pom-pom making silliness.
