That’s just one side’s worth

AK Boy came inside after chores concerned about his favorite duck, George. He said she had some frozen gunk on her face and maybe there was something in her eye. So if course I said “bring her in and we’ll take a look”.

He was back in a flash, pet carrier in tow, with George. She did have something foreign froze to her face below her eye but there didn’t appear to be any damage or injury. She was dirty and stinky and I decided to give her a tub of water so she could clean herself.

What was I thinking?? 🤔

Bath time

This duck was so happy to have some warm water to swim around in. She preened and cleaned and fluffed and flapped until there was water everywhere in the bathroom. Every. Where. I even found water on the ceiling. 🤨 But she was one happy mother ducker.

After an hour in the soak she was allowed to stay inside (in her pet taxi) to get thoroughly dry before returning to the barn.

I told that boy NOT to get any ideas about a house duck. We were not having a pet duck in the house. 🦆

These puppies are more than enough! Although a single duck might be less mess! 😜

Laying with Mom, getting loves.

This little guy is Higgins. Inspired by the OG Magnum PI series. His markings look more like a Rotty or Dobbie but to our knowledge he isn’t a part of either breed. He has the same brindling his mom has and black coloring of his (suspected) father.

He has enormous ears and paws, brindling on all fours legs, his cheeks, chin and under neck. He very curious and playful.

Higgins is nine weeks old (12/18) and ready to go to his furever home. He has been wormed, introduced to potty and crate training and if his new humans would like, I can arrange for a DAP vax. His new owners would need to schedule all other vet care at their earliest convenience.

There is a $100 rehoming fee good until the end of the year.

This is Beans. Frijoles Negrita (because of her little black toe beans!) She’s a sweet little girl with a white chest patch and speckled white front paws with all black toe beans on all her paws! 💝

A mix of Pitbull and Labrador Retriever mostly (we think…she does have webbed feet) and probably a few other breeds mixed in for good luck. She’s a little fluffy and super sweet with adorable ears who likes to cuddle. Nine weeks old this past Monday (12/18), she’s been wormed and introduced to potty and crate training. Beans has plenty of litter mates to play with but she is also used to our other dog, Ishka the Husky and of course her mom Panda. She has plenty of loving care and fun with the humans in our family. If her new human would like to her to have a DAP vax I can arrange that, all other vet care and vaccines should be scheduled by her new owners.

There is a $100 rehoming fee, good until the end of the year.

Taking Moose to meet his new people and go to his furever home.

Well we did it. All the pups have names. The last five are:

Frodo, the timid little brindled boy who likes first and second breakfast as any true Hobbit does.

Frodo

Moose, he’s dark brown and the biggest boy in the pack, Grumpus’s twin brother. He’s got the huge ears and long legs of his namesake.

Moose, he’s a handsome boy.

Beans, the fluffiest little black female. Frijoles Negrita, all her little toe beans are black.

Jack Sparrow, the black male with the black spot on his pink paw pads. Plus his white collar looks like a bird’s head.

And Daisy, the Lil black female who seems to squint when she looks at you. The kids wanted to call her Squinty or Squints. So we named her after the female “squints” from Bones.

These little pups are officially 8 weeks old yesterday and their little personalities are starting to be revealed. Consequently, names tend to follow suit. We tried really hard not to name them, made it almost six weeks and then Grumpus got her moniker, then Rudy (Rudolph the Red Nose Pit) but that’s it, no more names I said.

Sooo here we are at 8 weeks and they are just… needing names. Puppy, little girl/boy just isn’t cutting it anymore. Besides, who wants to go through life being called Runt?

Speaking of the runt, she is the sweetest little love bug who wants to cuddle and snuggle and stay that way forever. So, you guessed it, Love Bug, Bug, Bugsie, Bugs for short, is her name. If she had been a male I’d have named her Herbie but I digress.

The little brindled boy, with markings reminiscent of a doberman (sans the brindling of course) was being called Little Iko after a friend’s dog with similar markings & the same name. But I don’t like it. They call him psycho Iko (because our friend’s dog is a little neurotic, not this puppy) so we have to do better. I recalled the two doberman’s who used to be the nemesis of Thomas Magnum on the original series, so we decided on Higgins for the pup. It’s a right proper name for a lad. He’ll grow into it.

Sunday evening our friends came over to check out the pups and decided to adopted one, they chose Rudy! But while they were here they named the little brown boy Scooby, Scoob for short. So it seems that we have more named pups than not.

There’s five left without names. I’m sure they’ll be forthcoming in short order. Two of them are a little bit fluffier than the others, (one female and one male) which usually gets them called Fluffy and/or Fluffball. So those need to be remedied quickly. One is the other tiny little boy who is brown with brindling throughout who is a bit timid. Then one more little black & white female who usually gets along well with everyone else. And Grumpus’s twin brother who doesn’t really have a good name option to go with hers.

What would you name them?

This little chocolate brindled female is Grumpus. She has a twin brother.
16 days old, eyes open, waling around, making lots of noise including the funniest little growls!
