My shaggy boys needed a trim. Here’s the results.

Things are greening up quickly. Picked a few rhubarb stalks and some chives.

Then the kids and I headed out to hunt some morels. They are quite abundant this year after last year’s fires.

We picked a nice batch. I cleaned enough to whip up some creamy morel pasta. Oh yeah, it is good.

Might have to have seconds… Is your mouth watering?

The weather is about a month ahead of itself, pretty warm today, mid 70s. Kids were hot…

Lil Bit wanted the pool filled so her and Lil Mister could play.

They soaked long enough to shrivel up their fingers. Then off to play in the dirt.

Oh the joys of being a kid.

The kids had their first experience on the slopes today. So proud of them trying to learn something new and challenging on their own.

Boring lessons, I want to have fun!!

How many states can we see on one vacation?

Start in Alaska, hop over to Washington skip to Missouri. Jump over to Iowa, kids went to Nebraska, I went back through Missouri to Kansas, then back to Missouri. Soon I’ll be headed back to Iowa for one more night, then return to Missouri to catch a flight.

So for our family, it looks like 6 is our magic number.

I think I already have jet lag.

We’ve enjoyed every minute, every mile and especially every smile.

ETA: I forgot Oklahoma.

A new calendar year! I’m not much into resolutions but there’s always room for improvement. I’m going for more joy in our lives. Mostly that means finding the joy in everyday mundane things. Each day I plan to post a picture of something that brings me joy.

I’ll start off with my munchkins. Although sometimes they make me crazy, these little people bring me great joy.
I hope your 2016 is full if joy!

Spent some time yesterday just being with people I love. Started the day with a little surprise breakfast out with kids. We rarely get this simple pleasure so it was super fun.

Had plans for cookie baking with friends but alas, life happened and plans changed. But in the end it turned out super duper. Coffee and a gf red velvet cupcake from 1 Crazy Cupcake and a pedi with my buddy. Mom recharge time! A great birthday gift! Thank you!

Happy Hanukkah from all of us!

Got up early this morning to cook the turkey bird. Bird is in the oven and smells amazing already!  Sitting here sipping my coffee and thinking on Thanksgivings past. Missing my loved ones.

I asked my kids the other day what was their favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner:

  • Pumpkin pie ~Thing 2 and Lil Bit
  • Pecan pie ~ Thing 1, that’s my girl!
  • OLIVES & PICKLES~ Thing 1 after she thought about it for a while, totally my girl. 😉

The olives and pickles tray was my Grandmother’s thing. Every Thanksgiving we had baby dills and sweet gherkins, and green & black olives. And I always got to eat as many as I wanted. 😛 Grandma made sure of that.

Family traditions are fun like that (sometimes).

So we’ll have some pickles and olives on the table. A pumpkin and pecan pie. A turkey with cornbread dressing, sweet potatoes and green bean casserole… maybe. And give some thanks for what we have, each other.
