Lil Bit is participating in the Kenai Peninsula Orchestra Link Up program. It’s a great opportunity for youngsters to hear the orchestra perform and participate in the performance, both in choir and playing recorders and violins.

The finale was a little touch of Boogie Woogie with Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry. It seemed like the kids really enjoyed it!

Tomorrow afternoon she plays the same program in Kenai with different school kids and a few other orchestra members.

Bread, the source of life. Well maybe not, but for those of us who can’t eat it, it feels a little like it is.

I haven’t eaten wheat (on purpose) for the better part of 25 years. And I still miss bread. Warm from the oven, crusty artisan style sourdough, or toasted sliced bread slathered with butter, pizza bread loaded with toppings, or even better, bread in the form of cinnamon rolls. Oy.

But I digress…

Even though I can’t enjoy eating it I do like to make bread.  But with work and all I often don’t have time. Recently I found this post on Pinterest that has awakened my inner bread baker. It’s so easy. And only takes minutes to prep, let it rest all afternoon if necessary and bake right before dinner. Yum! The fam loves it.

Enjoyed breaking bread tonight. L’chaim!

First day of February. Brrr. But on the bright side, it's warmer than yesterday...
Wolf moon setting.
So I'm baking bread in the woodstove. #makedo #alaskaway

AK Boy came inside after chores concerned about his favorite duck, George. He said she had some frozen gunk on her face and maybe there was something in her eye. So if course I said “bring her in and we’ll take a look”.

He was back in a flash, pet carrier in tow, with George. She did have something foreign froze to her face below her eye but there didn’t appear to be any damage or injury. She was dirty and stinky and I decided to give her a tub of water so she could clean herself.

What was I thinking?? 🤔

Bath time

This duck was so happy to have some warm water to swim around in. She preened and cleaned and fluffed and flapped until there was water everywhere in the bathroom. Every. Where. I even found water on the ceiling. 🤨 But she was one happy mother ducker.

After an hour in the soak she was allowed to stay inside (in her pet taxi) to get thoroughly dry before returning to the barn.

I told that boy NOT to get any ideas about a house duck. We were not having a pet duck in the house. 🦆

These puppies are more than enough! Although a single duck might be less mess! 😜

It’s the end of 2023 (hip, hip, hooray!)

As we flip the calendar page to 2024 my wish for you is that you have enough. Enough of everything you need.

Enough wealth to be generous.

Enough love to share.

Enough happiness to not have to look for it.

Enough food to enjoy the company of family and friends.

Enough time to pause and be thankful.

Enough faith to get through the tough times.

Enough kindness to sprinkle everywhere.

Happy New Year’s!

Lil Bit and her violin teacher Sue Biggs playing "Angels We Have Heard".

This is Beans. Frijoles Negrita (because of her little black toe beans!) She’s a sweet little girl with a white chest patch and speckled white front paws with all black toe beans on all her paws! 💝

A mix of Pitbull and Labrador Retriever mostly (we think…she does have webbed feet) and probably a few other breeds mixed in for good luck. She’s a little fluffy and super sweet with adorable ears who likes to cuddle. Nine weeks old this past Monday (12/18), she’s been wormed and introduced to potty and crate training. Beans has plenty of litter mates to play with but she is also used to our other dog, Ishka the Husky and of course her mom Panda. She has plenty of loving care and fun with the humans in our family. If her new human would like to her to have a DAP vax I can arrange that, all other vet care and vaccines should be scheduled by her new owners.

There is a $100 rehoming fee, good until the end of the year.
