Spent a little time at our friends’ house Wednesday evening and enjoyed their beautiful garden. It takes a tremendous effort to tend all these plants. I’m inspired by these two. 💗

Adorned with nautical motifs, throughout. Bursting with columbines and pansies, roses and fireweed not yet bloomed. Forget-me-nots and poppies. Glorious!

Can you believe it? It only took a decade but I used up all my data for my free plan. I had to upgrade! Now I have a new domain. Fancy shmancy! And more storage to fill up with fun Alaskan experiences. I hope you enjoy the ride!

After 9 years of consecutive closures, clamming was opened for a short 4 day window, July 1-4, 2023. We wanted to give the kids the opportunity to try clamming and hoped for a few for Dean to enjoy. Bag & possession limits were low, 15 each. But we didn’t get that many, we came home with 3.

But we enjoyed some fresh Alaskan air, saw a little bit o’ sunshine and got some exercise. We also found a couple dozen hermit crabs, some sea snails, tiny shrimps and barnacles in the tide pools. Lots of cool creatures during these minus tides.

It was a good way to spend the first half of Independence Day! Now for some bovine flesh seared over an open fire, a cold adult beverage and poppits. (No fireworks allowed!)

We put in some steps today!

This past winter-spring I’ve been assisting a client with updates in order to sell her custom cedar log home. She went about the process systematically; hired a home inspector for a thorough inspection report, hired a licensed contractor to do major repairs, and consulted with plumbers & electricians for specialized repairs. After all initial issues were addressed she had a follow -up inspection with a couple minor issues to resolve, one of which was this vanity drain. It seems inspectors don’t care for flexi-pipe extensions.

Existing plumbing can be complicated and seemingly pointless when renovations are made. Always use the KISS* principle in tight spaces.

She invested quite a bit into maintaining and preparing her home for sale, in order to get a premium price and hopefully sell quickly. And it paid off for her!

Forget-me-not, Alaska's state flower.
Chocolate lilly, just about to open up.
Started the day with a partial power outage, lineman came out to diagnose the problem.
The Emergency Orders came out on Thursday, they completely closed our Personal Use Set Net fishery. Devastating to our family. (Pic from previous years.)
