On to another project.

No rest for the weary. Finished one cabin yesterday and rolled into the new job site this morning. This is a 12′ x 24′ cabin, dry in only. (No interior or finish work!!)

We spent half a day gathering supplies. The rest of the day we set our paver/pier foundation & brackets.

Ready for the floor system.

Then we sized our rough sawn beams and set them into place. Leveled and squared them and cut our rim joist and laid out our joist placement.

Time flies when you’re having fun. Time to clean up and stow our tools. Monday we will knock out the floor joists and blocking. Hopefully getting some sheeting down for the floor too.

A happy little cabin, nestled in the happy little trees on a happy little lake.

Finished!! The building that is. There’s still plenty of clean up to be done this weekend. On to another waiting project.

A Day in the Life of These Alaska People

No work for me today so the kids and I spent some time outdoors. We took a little walk to the sawmill. Little Mister wanted to go help Dad at work. So we leashed up Panda and went for a walk. Once there, Lil Mister went to work shoveling sawdust while Panda explored these new surroundings.

Then Lil Bit and I went berry picking for more lingonberries. And a botany lesson for good measure.

Just a regular day.

Making a solar print.

We got about one cup of berries this time, they are slowing down. Might get out once more for a few more. We’ll freeze these for making cranberry nut bread for Thanksgiving dinner.
